The present disclosure provides a method for transferring wireless power, performed by a wireless power transmitter in a wireless power transmission system, and an apparatus using same, the method comprising: entering a power transfer phase related to transferring the wireless power to a wireless power receiver; generating a slot in the power transfer phase; and performing foreign material detection over the slot, wherein the wireless power transmitter increases an operating frequency from a first operating frequency to a second operating frequency before the generation of the slot, and the wireless power transmitter lowers the operating frequency from the second operating frequency to the first operating frequency after the end of the slot.
