Abstract:
An embodiment of the present specification provides a method and apparatus for processing a video signal by using inter prediction. A method for decoding a video signal, according to one embodiment of the present specification, comprises the steps of: acquiring information about a dividing direction, acquired when the width and height of a current block are less than respective reference sizes; acquiring at least one merge index for the current block divided into a first triangular block and a second triangular block according to the dividing direction; determining a first merge candidate including a first reference picture index and a first motion vector from a merge candidate list, on the basis of the at least one merge index; determining a second merge candidate including a second reference picture index and a second motion vector from the merge candidate list, on the basis of the at least one merge index; and generating prediction samples of the first triangular block and the second triangular block on the basis of the first merge candidate and the second merge candidate. Computation complexity and processing time can be reduced by limiting the maximum block size for performing prediction using triangulation.
