Abstract:
The invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to methods for processing articles with the aid of powder materials, using cathode-ray surfacing process. The invention can be used for recovering worn down surfaces of various articles with the aim of protecting them from various attacks (thermal, chemical, high stress and others) and for improving the physical-chemical properties of the articles by means of deposing a protective ray-cathode coating. The aim of the invention is to improve the physical-chemical properties of the treated articles and to enlarge the technological potential of the invented method for cathode-ray surfacing. This aim is achieved by forming, on the protected surface of a metallic article, a surfacing zone with the aid of the linear scanned cathode-ray in the form of several parallel lines, introducing a fused metal in the surfacing zone and moving the article. The novelty of the invention lies in the following: the protected surface is cleaned by a cathode-ray fusing without introducing the fused metal, the linear scanning of the electron ray is embodied athwart the traveling direction of the article, and composite powders or a mixture of thermo-reactive powders are used as a fused material.
