Abstract:
The present invention provides a power storage system which has high energy density. The present invention provides a power storage system which has high safety. The present invention provides a secondary battery which has high energy density. The present invention provides a secondary battery which has high safety. A battery charger which has a function of controlling the start and stop of charging of a secondary battery and a function of controlling the charging current of a secondary battery. The secondary battery comprises a positive electrode; the positive electrode comprises positive electrode active material particles; and the positive electrode active material particles are formed of lithium cobaltate to which magnesium has been added. The battery charger has a function of controlling charging of a secondary battery with use of a first step in which constant current charging of a secondary battery is started at a time point t1 and a second step in which the charging is stopped at a time point t2. At the time point t2, the crystal structure of lithium cobaltate as determined by powder X-ray diffractometry is represented by the space group R-3m.
