Abstract:

The present application provides a method for controlling states of a terminal device, a terminal device, and a network device. The method comprises: a terminal device in an inactive state transmitting a first request message to a first network device, the first request message comprising first identification information of the terminal device; the terminal device receiving a first response message transmitted by the first network device, the first response message instructing the terminal device to enter an idle state or an inactive state. In the method provided by the present application, a terminal device in an inactive state transmits a request message to a first network device, and the first network device instructs the terminal device to directly enter an idle state or an inactive state. There is no need to switch to a connected state in advance, such that signaling overhead can be reduced, and energy consumption of the terminal device can be reduced.
