Abstract:
A method for designing a clay core wall dam with flow regulation in case of an overtopping failure, and a clay core wall dam. A gabion framework (3) is constructed in a downstream dam shell (2), and the gabion framework (3) comprises a gravity-type retaining wall structure (31), a plate support structure (32), and a parallel chain layer-up structure (33); the stresses of a blocking dam core wall (1) and the dam shell (2) at a plurality of positions are changed by additionally arranging the gabion framework (3) in the dam shell (2), which is traditional, such that the distribution and magnitudes of shear stresses in a self-deformation process are adjusted, and the water flow erosion resistance is improved; and the dead weight of a blocking dam is increased by means of the framework (3) and soil and stones attached thereto, such that the period of time that the core wall (1) is exposed is comprehensively delayed, the period of time for erosion of the top of the core wall (1) is prolonged, and the core wall (1) is protected against large-scale toppling or a shearing failure, thereby achieving the purpose of regulating peak flow in case of overtopping failure.
