Abstract:
It is intended to provide a method for determining whether or not a subject has type II diabetes and a method for determining whether or not a therapeutic effect on diabetes is obtained using a sample which can be easily obtained. The method for determining whether or not a subject x is a diabetic patient or a potential diabetic patient comprising the steps of: (a) obtaining an expression profile x of a specific gene or gene group in human leukocytes derived from the subject x; (b) comparing the expression profile x obtained in the step (a) with an expression profile y of the same specific gene or gene group as in the step (a) in a gene group in human leukocytes derived from a non-diabetic subject y or an equivalent thereof; and (c) determining the subject x as a diabetic patient or a potential diabetic patient when the expression profile x is significantly different from the expression profile y in the step (b), etc. are adopted.
