Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for developing forging materials. The method comprises the steps of: a) determining a target composition of a material sample of a target forging material that is to be additively manufactured, b) providing a metal powder of an initial composition, which differs from the target composition by a compensatory component of at least one alloying constituent, which is predetermined by a loss component of the at least one alloying constituent during the additive manufacturing, for the additive manufacturing of the material sample of the target composition from a), c) obtaining a first structural state from the additive manufacturing, d) by first preparing the starting material for the forging by casting, using thermomechanical treatment of the additively manufactured material sample to generate a microstructure that corresponds to a microstructure of a material sample forged from the same material, and e) performing investigations into the processing properties and final properties of the material sample, and drawing conclusions from them as to the suitability of the first chemical composition as a target forging material.
