Abstract:

A method for compressing stream data comprises: constructing multiple line segments according to acquired stream data and a predefined maximum error; determining a target segmented linear function according to the multiple line segments, wherein the target segmented linear function comprises multiple linear functions, and an intersection of value ranges of independent variables of every two linear functions among the multiple linear functions comprises at most one value (103); and outputting reference data points according to the target segmented linear function, wherein the reference data points comprise continuous points and discontinuous points of the target segmented linear function. In this way, multiple line segments are constructed according to multiple data points and a maximum error, and further, a target segmented linear function is determined according to the multiple line segments, and compressed stream data is expressed by using continuous points and discontinuous points of the target segmented linear function. The method can ensure that the target segmented linear function has the smallest number of parameters, which requires the smallest storage space.
