Disclosed is a method and device for sending and receiving a reference signal. In a method for receiving channel state information, a base station sends first signalling to a terminal device, the first signalling comprising channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) information of each sub-band of a plurality of sub-bands. The base station sends a CSI-RS on at least one sub-band in the plurality of sub-bands. The base station receives channel state information sent by the terminal device, and the channel state information is obtained by means of measuring the CSI-RS sent on at least one sub-band. Provided is a method and device for sending and receiving reference signal data, able to configure a plurality sub-bands for a terminal device so as to obtain a reference signal of the plurality of sub-bands simultaneously. Thus a base station can perform switching, according to a reference signal result, on a sub-band used by a terminal, maintaining the flexibility of a base station side and the maximization of data transmission of a terminal device.
