Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and to a device for continuously shaping a plane web to give a lengthwise corrugated web while avoiding folds and cracks in the web. The inventive method is characterized by guiding and shaping the web in the zone to be shaped in a spatially continuous manner. Every imaginary line lying in the web center surface and extending in the direction of transport covers substantially the same distance during shaping in the zone to be shaped. With progressive shaping the web lines not lying in the edge region are deflected perpendicularly to the web plane, the maximum value of said deflection being the greater the farther away the respective web line is from the edge of the web. In order to obtain a constant web length, a lower deflection in one direction is compensated for by a greater deflection in a different direction, thereby causing all web lines in the zone to be shaped to cover substantially the same distance.
