Disclosed is a method for updating a virtualized network function (VNF). The method comprises: when a software image of a VNF instance needs to be updated, creating and registering a VNF packet, the VNF packet being used for updating the software image of the VNF instance and descriptive information of the software image; and updating information of the VNF instance via a VNF manager (VNFM) on the basis of the VNF packet. Also disclosed is a VNF updating device and the VNF packet. Fig. 2
