Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for estimating the amount of wavelength dispersion, a wavelength dispersion compensation circuit, and a receiving device, with which the amount of wavelength dispersion that should be compensated for in the receiving device, which compensates for waveform distortion in an optic fiber transmission line, is rapidly estimated and set with great precision. This wavelength dispersion compensation circuit (101) is provided with: an analog-digital converter (11) that converts an optical analog waveform received from the optical fiber transmission line into a digital signal; a digital signal processor (12) that compensates for waveform distortion due to wavelength dispersion in the optical fiber transmission line, which carries the digital signal outputted by the analog-digital converter (11), according to a dispersion compensation amount estimated according to a wavelength dispersion amount estimation method; and a symbol clock extractor (13) that extracts a symbol arrival timing clock for received data contained in the digital signal outputted by the analog-digital converter (11), and that outputs the intensity of the symbol arrival timing clock as a clock detection value.
