Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a method for fractionating a phenolic resin by using a solvent that is easier to handle; a method for producing a phenolic resin; and a solvent for fractionating a phenolic resin. A method for fractionating a phenolic resin according to the present invention comprises an extraction step for mixing a resin liquid, obtained by dissolving a phenolic resin in a solvent A, with a solvent B, and extracting low-molecular-weight components of the phenolic resin into the solvent B, wherein when SPA is the weighted average of the SP values of a solvent component AN constituting the solvent A, as measured by the Fedors method, and SPB is the weighted average of the SP values of a solvent component BN constituting the solvent B, as measured by the Fedors method, (1) SPA≤9.5 and (2) 14.0≤SPB≤20.5 are satisfied. Moreover, this method for producing a phenolic resin involves said method for fractionating a phenolic resin.
