Abstract:

A method for inspecting liquid leakage of a tubular battery in which the sealing side end face (33) of the tubular battery (Ba) is irradiated with X-rays (34) when the tubular batteries (Ba) are carried with respective axes arranged in parallel with each other and passed through a liquid leakage inspection mechanism (12), fluorescent X-rays (40) outgoing from the sealing side end face (33) are made to enter a detector (39) through a detection window (35), and the presence or absence of liquid leakage of the tubular battery (Ba) is judged based on the results of analysis indicating whether or not fluorescent X-rays (40) corresponding to the component of electrolyte are included in the fluorescent X-rays (40) thus entered. Since the profile of the detection window (35) is set such that the length dimensions (L1, L3, L5) corresponding to the carrying direction of the tubular battery (Ba) are smaller than the intervals (C1, C2) between tubular batteries (Ba), and the length dimensions (L2, L4, L6) corresponding to the direction intersecting the carrying direction perpendicularly are larger than the overall dimensions (R1, R2) of the cross-section in the direction intersecting the axis of the tubular battery (Ba) perpendicularly, the presence or absence of liquid leakage of the tubular battery can be judged quickly and accurately by X-ray fluorescence analysis.
