Abstract:
Provided are a method and a kit for detecting 5-hydroxymethylcytosine in nucleic acids. The method for detecting 5-hydroxymethylcytosine in nucleic acids comprises the following steps: (1) a step for oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine by treating a nucleic acid sample with peroxytungstic acid, tungstic acid, a salt thereof or a combination of the same and a reoxidant; and (2) a step for determining the position of the oxidized 5-hydroxymethylcytosine in the nucleic acid sample.
