Abstract:

The objective of the present invention is to attain a composite contact, wherein joining strength at a joining interface is improved with a small amount of silver alloy, waste to be generated upon manufacturing thereof is eliminated, and that has excellent durability exhibiting a stable contact performance for a long period of time. Provided is a method of manufacturing a composite contact that has a large diameter flange section formed on one end section of a small diameter base section, and that comprises a contact section that comprises silver alloy and that constitutes an upper face section of the flange section, and a leg section that comprises copper alloy and that has a large diameter section constituting a lower face section of the flange section and the small diameter base section formed in integration. The method of manufacturing a composite contact comprises: a first molding process wherein both a copper alloy wire (12) and a silver alloy wire (13) are joined together while widening the outer diameter of the silver alloy wire (13) up to the inner diameter of a hole (21) in a state of restricting an expansion of the diameter of the copper alloy wire (12) with the inner circumference face of the hole (21), to form a primary compact comprising a silver alloy section and a copper alloy section, by forging the copper alloy wire (12) and the silver alloy wire (13) having an outer diameter smaller than the copper alloy wire (12), in a state of having both the wires abutted with each other inside the hole (21) of a mold; and a second molding process wherein the one end section, comprising the silver alloy section, the joining interface between the silver alloy section and the copper alloy section, and the copper alloy section of the primary compact, is forged to mold the flange section.
