Abstract:
This method of manufacturing an engine exhaust valve for a large vessel is characterized in that, following multiple iterations of build up welding (S2) using a weld material comprising an Ni-Cr-Al system Ni-base age-hardened alloy so as to cover the distal end of a round bar of steel material, the distal end is subjected to hot die forging to form a head portion while imparting texture adjustments to the weld (S3), and undergoes a solution heat treatment (S4) and an age-hardening heat treatment (S5). This manufacturing method provides an engine exhaust valve for large vessel, having high durability such that it can withstand the high loads encountered in a diesel engine of a large vessel. The weld material may be an alloy wire for build up welding use.
