Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a fixing member having: an elastic layer 4b comprising a rubber elastic body having a hole part; and a base body 4a, the fixing member being manufactured by using a metal mold 11 capable of holding, in an inside 53 thereof, the base body 4a of the fixing member 4 used in an image fixing device 10, injecting a liquid rubber composition containing water into the inside of the metal mold in which the base body is held, heating the metal mold to heat-cure the rubber composition, thereafter removing metal mold terminal members 6, 12, 7, 13 attached to one end side and the other end side of the metal mold, evaporating the water from the rubber composition by heating the metal mold in a state where the metal mold is open at both ends, and forming the hole part 4b1 inside the heat-cured rubber component, wherein the fixing member in which the hole part is isotropically formed in the elastic layer is molded without leaving a flow history in the liquid rubber inside the metal mold. When the rubber component is heat-cured by heating the metal mold, the metal mold terminal members at one end side and the other end side of the metal mold are heated earlier than a metal mold portion between the metal mold terminal members at one end side and the other end side.
