Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing microcapsules that are capable of holding an organic compound, which is an active ingredient such as a fragrance, for a long period. The method for manufacturing microcapsules has: a step (1) in which an organic phase, which includes one or more organic compounds and tetraalkoxysilane in an aqueous phase that includes a surfactant, is emulsified, the amount of said tetraalkoxysilane being 10-60 mass% inclusive relative to the organic compounds, a sol-gel reaction is carried out under acidic conditions, and capsules are formed, each of which has a core and a first shell; and a step in which additional tetraalkoxysilane is added to a water dispersion that contains the capsules obtained in step (1), a sol-gel reaction is carried out, the initial pH of the sol-gel reaction of step (2) being kept lower than the initial pH of the sol-gel reaction of step (1), and capsules are formed, each of which has a second shell that encloses the first shell.
