Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing resin beads: with which it is possible to provide various types of products such as cosmetics imparted with superior tactile sensation, spreadability on skin, transparency, and product stability; and that can be substituted for resin particles formed of synthetic materials derived from petroleum. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing resin beads employing a cellulose derivative as a principal component. The manufacturing method includes: a suspension preparing step for preparing a suspension that contains oil droplets containing a cellulose derivative and an organic solvent by mixing an oil phase containing the cellulose derivative and the organic solvent that dissolves the cellulose derivative and that has a water solubility of 0.1-50.0 g and a water phase containing a dispersion stabilizer; and an oil-droplet contracting step for contracting the oil droplets by adding water to the suspension. Water is added to the suspension so as to satisfy expression (A) until the amount of the organic solvent contained in the suspension becomes equal to or less than the water solubility of the organic solvent. Expression (A): (W/S)/T ≤ 1.00, where W is the added quantity of water (parts by mass), S is the amount of the suspension (parts by mass), and T is added time (min).
