Abstract:
In a manufacturing method according to an embodiment of the present invention, a first exterior member is formed, wherein a storage space is defined by a bottom wall and side walls, and a flange on the opposite side from the bottom wall defines the periphery of an opening of the storage space, and a second exterior member is made to face the flange in a state where an electrode group is disposed in the storage space. One of the flange and the second exterior member has a protrusion formed therein, said protrusion protruding towards the other, and the protrusion is disposed in such a manner as to be located at the outside of the periphery of the opening. In the manufacturing method, the flange and the second exterior member are airtightly welded at a welding section on the outside of the protrusion. Gas in the storage space is discharged from an unsealed position that is between the welding section and the protrusion and that is in the vicinity of the protrusion.
