Abstract:
In a secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention, a first exterior member has a storage space defined by a bottom wall and side walls and is provided with a flange for defining the periphery of an opening of the storage space at a site on the opposite side from the bottom wall. An electrode group is stored in the storage space, and a second exterior member is disposed so as to face the flange. A welding section airtightly welds the flange and the second exterior member at the outside of the periphery of the opening to seal the storage space. Between the welding section and the periphery of the opening, a protrusion is provided in one of the flange and the second exterior member, said protrusion protruding towards the other.
