Abstract:
A method of manufacturing an ultra-thin-walled seamless metal tube, using a cold rolling method which employs a cold pilger mill of mechatronic-driven type having a mechanism which can provide a tube blank with a feed and a rotational angle not only immediately before the start of a forward stroke of rolling but also immediately before the start of a return stroke of the rolling, wherein the cold rolling method is configured in such a manner that, with the use of a pair of rollers having tapered hole dies which have a diameter reduced or expanded from the engaging inlet side toward the finishing outlet side of the dies and the use of a tapered mandrel which has a diameter expanded from the engaging inlet side toward the finishing outlet side of the mandrel, the method draws the tube blank by reducing the wall thickness thereof and expanding the diameter thereof measured at the mid-point of the wall thickness. The manufacturing method can produce a metal seamless tube rolled with a higher degree of processing, having a wall thickness reduced to an ultra-thin level, and having improved product dimensional accuracy, which are achieved by providing, also immediately before the start of a return stroke of rolling, the tube blank with a rotational angle and/or a feed which is the same as or equivalent to that provided to the tube blank in a forward stroke of the rolling.
