Abstract:
 The present invention provides a method for obtaining the volume change rate of graphite material by using an ion beam to irradiate a graphite material to be measured, and obtaining, for the pre-ion-beam-irradiation and the post-ion-beam-irradiation carbon material, the area ratio of the gap-excluding portion of the material surface, then calculating a change rate from the area ratio of the gap-excluding portion in the pre-ion-beam-irradiation carbon material relative to the area ratio of the gap-excluding portion in the post-ion-beam-irradiation carbon material, and converting the change rate of the area ratios into the volume change rate. The method of the present invention enables the use of a short-duration ion beam irradiation experiment and a comparatively simple analysis method to obtain neutron irradiation test data, and consistent, highly accurate, dose-dependent data on the amount of volume change.
