The invention concerns a method for offshore installation of a wind turbine (1) comprising a telescopic mast (3, 3a-3c), characterized in that it comprises the following successive steps which consist in: 1) transporting said wind turbine (1), said mast having a retracted configuration, onto a self-lifting floating platform (10) further supporting a device (20) for moving and hoisting the wind turbine (1) including a mobile tower (21) comprising hoisting means (24-27), said offshore site for said wind turbine comprising a foundation pile (4) installed on the sea floor (5), and 2) on reaching proximate to said foundation pile (4), raising said self-lifting platform (10) relative to the sea level (7) and providing it with a fixed position relative to the sea floor (5), and 3) displacing said wind turbine with said mast in retracted configuration until the base of said mast (3) is in the axis of said foundation pile (4), then securing said base of the mast (3) with the top of said foundation pile (4), and 4), extending said mast (3) from its said retracted configuration up to its said extended configuration using said displacement and hoisting device (20).
