Abstract:
Provided is a method for the operation of an ion exchanger, which overcomes the problems of split-flow regeneration and can attain a higher yield. The method comprises a regeneration process that includes a first regeneration process and a second regeneration process conducted after the completion of the first regeneration process. In the first regeneration process, a regenerant (5) is distributed at the top (8) of an ion-exchange resin bed (2) and collected at the bottom (9) of the ion-exchange resin bed (2), whereby a downflow of the regenerant (5) is formed to regenerate the whole of the ion exchange resin bed (2). In the second regeneration process, a regenerant (5) is distributed at the bottom (10) of the ion-exchange resin bed (2) and collected in an intermediate zone (11) of the ion-exchange resin bed (2), whereby an upflow of the regenerant (5) is formed to regenerate part of the ion-exchange resin bed (2). The intermediate zone (11) wherein the regenerant (5) is collected in the second regeneration process is located at a depth of at least 100mm from the bottom (10) of the ion-exchange resin bed (2).
