Abstract:
A method for predicting developmental toxicity of a chemical, said method being characterized by comprising a step for using a functional equation obtained by combining a variable based on the cytotoxicity of a chemical with a variable based on the differential inhibition by the chemical and a variable based on the physical properties of the chemical, substituting an assessment score relating to the cytotoxicity of a test substance, an assessment score relating to the differential inhibition by the test substance, and an assessment score relating to the physical properties of the test substance respectively into the corresponding variables in the aforesaid functional equation, comparing the determined value thus calculated with a control value, and then assessing the presence or absence of the developmental toxicity of the test substance or the extent thereof on the basis of the difference between these values.
