Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a novel method for diagnosing fatty liver disease that can be carried out more easily and that does not put a burden on patients or health care providers. The problem can be solved by measuring, in a body fluid sample, the amount of one or more long-chain acylcarnitines selected from the group consisting of octadecenoylcarnitine, tetradecenoylcarnitine, tetradecanoylcarnitine, hexadecanoylcarnitine, octadecanoylcarnitine, and octadecadienoylcarnitine, then comparing the result with a reference value.
