Provided is a method for stably preparing a fiber-reinforced resin molding material by dividing fiber bundles such that the divided parts of the fiber bundles become long while the non-divided parts of the fiber bundles becoming short. This method for preparing a fiber-reinforced resin molding material in which a resin is immersed in the cut fiber bundles comprises: a division step for dividing, by a divider, the fiber bundles such that the fiber bundles are spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction; and a cutting step for cutting the fiber bundles such that the fiber bundles are spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction after the division step, wherein the divider is provided with a rotary blade having a release part, and a spacer member that is adjacent to the rotary blade.
