Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing 13-hydroxy-9(Z)-octadecenoic acid, which is improved in productivity. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for producing 13-hydroxy-9(Z)-octadecenoic acid, which comprises producing 13-hydroxy-9(Z)-octadecenoic acid from linoleic acid in the presence of a transgenic microorganism capable of producing a protein selected from the group consisting of proteins (A) to (C): (A) a protein which comprises an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of the amino acid sequences respectively represented by SEQ ID NOs: 4, 5, 8 to 10, 13 and 14; (B) a protein which comprises an amino acid sequence that is selected from the group consisting of the amino acid sequences respectively represented by SEQ ID NOs: 4, 5, 8 to 10, 13 and 14 and has the substitution, deletion, insertion or addition of one or several amino acid residues included therein, and which has a linoleate 13-hydratase activity; and (C) a protein which comprises an amino acid sequence having identity of 90% or more with an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of the amino acid sequences respectively represented by SEQ ID NOs: 4, 5, 8 to 10, 13 and 14, and which has a linoleate 13-hydratase activity.
