Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing an aromatic aminomethyl, wherein an aromatic nitrile is hydrogenated in an organic solvent that contains a polar organic solvent having a solubility parameter (SP value) of 9 or more in the presence of a quaternary ammonium compound, at least one metal hydroxide that is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal hydroxides and alkaline earth metal hydroxides, and a hydrogenation catalyst.
