Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a production method capable of inhibiting production of byproducts, etc., and improving the yield of a biphenyl benzimidazole derivative which is the intended product. [Solution] A method for producing a biphenyl benzimidazole derivative represented by by reacting, in the presence of a base, a benzimidazole derivative represented by (R1 represents a C1-6 alkyl group, and R2 represents a C1-6 alkyl group, a cilexetil group, or a medoxomil group) with a biphenyl compound represented by (RA represents a cyano group or a 1-trityl-1H-tetrazole-5-yl group, and X represents a halogen atom), wherein the reaction is carried out in a reaction solvent containing a branched alcohol represented by (R3, R4, and R5 each represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-6 alkyl group, or the like. However, two or more groups among R3-R5 would not simultaneously be a hydrogen atom).
