Abstract:
Provided are: a method for producing a ceramic matrix composite which can be inhibited from decreasing in strength; and the ceramic matrix composite. The method for producing a ceramic matrix composite 103-1 includes: a zirconia-sol-containing-layer formation step in which a zirconia-sol-containing layer 24-1 is formed in woven fabric 20 comprising a plurality of ceramic fibers 22 and interfacial layers 23 formed on the periphery of the ceramic fibers 22; an impregnation step in which the woven fabric 20 is impregnated with a polymer 30; an oxygen supply step in which oxygen is supplied to the polymer 30; an inert firing step in which heating is conducted in an inert gas atmosphere to react the polymer 30 to form a matrix 32; and an oxygen firing step in which heating is conducted in an oxygen atmosphere to remove the interfacial layers 23 to produce the ceramic matrix composite 103-1 comprising the fibers 22 and the matrix 32 disposed thereamong.
