Abstract:
Disclosed is an industrial method for efficiently producing an α, α-difluoroacetaldehyde. A method for producing an α, α-difluoroacetaldehyde according to the present invention is able to be achieved by having an α, α-difluoroacetic acid ester react with a hydrogen gas (H2) in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst and a base. An α, α-difluoroacetaldehyde is able to be produced at high conversion rate with high selectivity by employing specific conditions (specific catalyst, base, pressure and the like).
