Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a fatty acid or a fatty acid-containing lipid using a thioesterase variant which has an amino acid sequence wherein the 231st amino acid in the amino acid sequence shown in sequence No. 1 has been substituted from threonine to lysine. Also provided is a transformant which has a gene that encodes the thioesterase variant, and which has improved capability to produce fatty acids or lipids containing fatty acids.
