Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for efficiently producing a gas diffusion electrode substrate having excellent adhesion. This method for producing a gas diffusion electrode substrate having a microporous layer on at least one surface of a conductive porous substrate comprises: a coating step for coating the conductive porous substrate with a coating solution including conductive particles, a water repellent material, a dispersion medium, and a surfactant; a drying step for heating at a temperature lower than the heating temperature of a first heat treatment step; the first heat treatment step for heating at a temperature lower than the melting point of the water repellent material; and a second heat treatment step for heating at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the water repellent material, wherein the coating solution includes 0.09-0.27 parts by mass of the water repellent material with respect to 1 part by mass of the conductive particles, the heating time in the first heat treatment step is 0.2 to 3.0 minutes, and the heating time in the second heat treatment step is 2.9 minutes or less.
