Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to efficiently produce a glass panel unit which exhibits thermal insulation properties without undergoing a cutting step. This method for producing a glass panel unit is provided with a bonding step, a decompression step, and a sealing step. In the bonding step, a first substrate (1) and a second substrate (2) are hermetically bonded to each other by a frame-like seal (4). In the decompression step, the internal space (6) formed between the first substrate (1) and the second substrate (2) is decompressed through an exhaust hole (8). In the sealing step, a molten sealing material (53) is dripped towards the exhaust hole (8), and the exhaust hole (8) is sealed by the sealing material (53).
