Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a low-viscosity fluorine-containing elastomer that obtains a low-viscosity fluorine-containing elastomer by solution polymerization of a fluoromonomer in the presence of a polymerization initiator and a solvent, the solvent being a halogen-atom-free acyl compound, the polymerization initiator being at least one selected from the group consisting of organic peroxides and azo compounds, the one-minute half-life temperature of the polymerization initiator being 110°C or less, and the number of carbon atoms of all fragments generated by cleaving oxygen atom-oxygen atom bonds present in the molecule of the organic peroxides or nitrogen atom-nitrogen atom bonds present in the molecule of the azo compounds being 10 or fewer.
