Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a methylene disulfonate compound that is industrially advantageous and makes it possible to produce a methylene disulfonate compound easily and inexpensively by fewer raw materials. The method for producing a methylene disulfonate compound of the present invention includes a step A for obtaining a reactant A that includes an alkane disulfonic acid compound by reacting at least one alkane sulfonic acid compound and sulfur trioxide in the presence of at least one selected from the group consisting of sulfoxide compounds and sulfone compounds and a step B for obtaining a methylene disulfonate compound by reacting the reactant A obtained in the step A and a formaldehyde compound in the presence of sulfur trioxide.
