Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a plasma display panel (PDP), which makes it possible, even in a PDP provided with high-resolution cells, to effectively prevent impurities from being adsorbed to a protection layer, and to achieve excellent image display performance while reducing power consumption. Specifically, a back surface substrate (9) is fired in a calcination process having a maximum temperature lower than the softening point of a sealing material. The back surface substrate (9) and a front surface substrate (2) are placed upon one another, and a sealing process is carried out in a sealing atmosphere obtained by adding a predetermined amount of a reducing gas to a non-oxidative gas. Thereby, impurities attributable to organic components associated with a sealing material paste remain in a low-molecule state. Then, these impurities are removed by means of exhaust gas in an exhaust process following the sealing process, thereby preventing the impurities from being adsorbed to the protection layer (8).
