Abstract:
Provided are: a method for separating 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf) and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) from a mixture containing HFO-1234yf and HFC-134a with high efficiency; and a method for producing HFO-1234yf with high efficiency employing the aforementioned method. A method for separating HFO-1234yf and HFC-134a, which comprises: a step of adding a first extraction solvent selected from the group consisting of an alcohol, a ketone, an ester, an amide, an ether, a sulfoxide, a nitrile, a hydrofluoroether having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and dichloropropane to a first mixture containing HFO-1234yf and HFC-134a to produce a second mixture; and an extraction/distillation step of distilling the second mixture to separately produce a distillate containing HFO-1234yf as the main component and a bottom product containing the first extraction solvent as the main component and also containing HFC-134a.
