Abstract:
This method comprises: a heat treatment step (S1) wherein a heat treatment is carried out by heating a lithium ion secondary battery; a grinding and sorting step (S2) wherein the lithium ion secondary battery after the heat treatment is ground and sorted, thereby obtaining an electrode material that contains at least cobalt, nickel, copper and lithium; a leaching step (S3) wherein the electrode material is immersed in a treatment solution that contains sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide, thereby obtaining a leachate; a copper separation step (S4) wherein a hydrogen sulfide compound is added to the leachate, and the resulting solution is stirred and subsequently subjected to solid-liquid separation, thereby obtaining an elution solution that contains cobalt and nickel, and a residue that contains copper sulfide; and a cobalt·nickel separation step (S5) wherein after adjusting the pH of the elution solution by adding an alkali metal hydroxide thereto, a hydrogen sulfide compound is added thereto and the resulting solution is stirred and subsequently subjected to solid-liquid separation, thereby obtaining a sediment that contains cobalt sulfide and nickel sulfide, and a residual liquid that contains lithium.
