Abstract:
A method for sizing paper using an aqueous dispersion containing a hydrophobic compound, characterized in that it comprises heating the aqueous dispersion to a temperature from the melting temperature of the hydrophobic compound to 100 &ring C, and adding the heated aqueous dispersion to a pulp slurry or a surface coating liquid held at a temperature from that higher than the solidification temperature to 100 &ring C, while retaining the temperature of the aqueous dispersion at a level higher than the solidification temperature of the hydrophobic compound&semi and a sized paper made through the method. The method allows papermaking to be carried out with reduced fouling of a paper machine and thus with improved operability of the machine.
