Disclosed are a method, terminal and server for identifying a program channel, which relate to the technical field of intelligent televisions. The method for identifying a program channel comprises: acquiring a current frame image in a program playing process of an intelligent terminal, and adding a timestamp to the current frame image; receiving the current frame image uploaded via a network, combining the image and the timestamp to compare same with an image stored at each channel within the same time period, determining a comparison result best matching an image feature thereof, and feeding a final result back to the intelligent terminal; and the intelligent terminal displaying corresponding program information according to a comparison result. By acquiring a program frame image added with a timestamp, uploading and distributing same to each channel, and capturing in real time, according to the timestamp, a stored satellite program video image of each of the current channels within the same time period for comparison so as to find a comparison result best matching an image feature, the audiences can clearly understand channel information about a program currently played by an intelligent terminal.
