Abstract:
A method for transmitting a text item which is in script form, particularly from a printed medium, is described. A mobile communication appliance, particularly a mobile telephone (10) having a camera, and also a text database (16) are provided. A photograph of a descriptor (14c) or of a code (14d) from the text item (14b) is taken by the mobile telephone (10). The photograph or a piece of coding derived from the photograph is transmitted to the text database (16). The photograph or the coding is compared with identification information stored in the text database (16). If matching identification information is found, an associated text, stored in the text database (16), from the text item (14b) is transmitted (20) to the mobile telephone (10) in the form of voice data.
