Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for the wet recovery of valuable metals in a lithium battery. In the method, when hydrogen sulfide gas is pressurized and introduced, waste lithium battery powder is selectively leached, so that Mn2+, Li+, and Al3+ metal ions enter a first-stage leaching solution, whereas nickel, cobalt, copper, and iron are present in a first-stage leaching slag in the form of sulfides. During the foregoing process, only a small amount of sulfuric acid is consumed. Then, the pH of the first-stage leaching solution is adjusted to remove aluminum and manganese. During said process, the separation of metals is extremely thorough, and the obtained product is relatively pure. The first-stage leaching slag is leached under negative pressure in an acid solution, so that the sulfides of nickel, cobalt, iron and copper are dissolved in a second-stage leaching solution. The produced hydrogen sulfide gas may be recycled and pressurized to a first-stage leaching process, so that only a very small amount of hydrogen sulfide is consumed in the whole reaction process. Then, the properties of easy copper replacement and easy iron hydrolysis are used to remove copper and iron to obtain a relatively pure nickel-cobalt salt mixed solution, which may be directly used for the synthesis and use of positive electrode material precursors.
