Title:
MIGRATION ARC WELDING PROCESS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1980/001770
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A welding process, more particularly, a migration arc welding process which eliminates adverse effect of mixed inert gases upon the results of welding by greatly improving the arc stability when the migration arc welding is applied in pure inert atmospheric gas. The essential point of eliminating the problem contains the inclusion of small amount of rare earth elements as a welding wire, use of a pure inert gas atmosphere, and migration of molten droplets, produced by arc heat, toward a base plate, particularly in an instantaneous contact shorting state. This process can be applied generally to joint welding processes.
