Title:
MILD HYBRID SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/152619
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hybrid engine system for driving a vehicle with two power sources, and more particularly to a hybrid engine system which comprises: a vehicle engine that includes an engine for generating driving force, a transmission for changing rotational speed of the engine, and a drive axle for receiving the driving force from the transmission and transmitting the rotational force to wheels; a compressor for producing compressed air by means of the rotation of the drive axle; a bombe for storing compressed air produced by the compressor; a turbine for receiving the compressed air from the bombe and rotating a crankshaft of the engine, wherein it further comprises: a first solenoid valve for controlling the supply of compressed air from the bombe to the turbine depending on the engine speed; a second solenoid valve for controlling the supply of compressed air from the bombe to the turbine depending on pressure within the bombe; and a third solenoid valve for controlling the supply of compressed air from the compressor to the bombe depending on air pressure within the bombe. Therefore, it is possible to gently start the engine by means of the turbine necessary for start-up, which minimizes the feeling of incompatibility of a driver when starting the engine to thereby improve the commodity value of the vehicle, and allows the engine to operate at its most efficient zone. Also, it is possible to utilize a conventional engine as it is without any change in design because the turbine is coupled thereto in parallel so as to decrease the load of the engine by applying auxiliary power when accelerating or re-starting the engine. The supply of fuel is interrupted while the vehicle runs in an inertial state after idle-stop of the engine. The turbine is used for applying the driving force to the engine and for re-starting the engine, and is controlled to assist the torque of the engine by using the torque of the turbine at the time of the acceleration, thereby improving the engine power performance and the fuel efficiency. In the inertial running state, the compressor is driven to produce and store compressed air, not necessarily involving the engine, a generator and a battery for producing the compressed air. Accordingly, the mild hybrid system of the present invention makes it possible to prevent reduction in lifespan of the engine and generator and avoid power loss of the conventional battery.
