Abstract:
Modified cellulose fibers according to the present invention have an average fiber diameter of 1-500 nm, wherein one or more substituents selected from substituents represented by general formulae (1) and (2) are linked to the cellulose fibers through an ether bond, and a 0.2-mass% dispersion, obtained by subjecting the cellulose fibers to DMF, MEK, or toluene to a fine dispersion treatment, has a viscosity of 15 mPa·s or higher (25°C), and the cellulose fiber has a cellulose I-type crystal structure. -CH2-CH(OH)-R1 (1) -CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-(OA)n-O-R1 (2) (in the formulae, each R1 in general formulae (1) and (2) independently represents a linear or branched C3-C30 alkyl group, n in general formula (2) represents a number of 0-50, and A in general formula (2) represents a linear or branched divalent saturated C1-C6 hydrocarbon group) The modified cellulose fibers according to the present invention have high dispersibility in a resin, and can exhibit the effect of enhancing strength, and therefore, are suitable as various fillers and the like.
